Surgical expertise across the full spectrum of gynecology.
In addition to specialized minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures, gynecological surgery encompasses a broad range of other operations. The appropriate treatment and surgical technique depend on the condition, the patient’s symptoms, and the individual findings.
Dr. Arsenakis has extensive surgical experience in general and oncological gynecology and has performed more than 3,200 gynecological operations throughout his clinical career.
Surgery of the Uterus and Cervix
The surgical spectrum includes:
- hysterectomy – depending on the individual findings, performed vaginally, laparoscopically, with robot-assisted surgery, or through open surgery
- uterus-preserving surgical procedures
- conization for abnormal cervical cell changes or precancerous lesions
- surgical treatment of abnormalities of the cervix
- diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for abnormal findings of the endometrium
- Whenever medically appropriate, the possibility of a minimally invasive and organ-preserving approach is considered.
Surgery of the Ovaries and Fallopian Tubes
Conditions affecting the ovaries and fallopian tubes may also require surgical treatment. Procedures include:
- removal of ovarian cysts and benign ovarian tumors
- ovary-preserving surgical procedures
- removal of an ovary or fallopian tube when medically indicated
- surgical treatment of conditions or abnormalities of the fallopian tubes
- treatment of ectopic pregnancy
- removal of adhesions involving the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or pelvis
Particularly in patients of reproductive age, the aim – whenever medically appropriate – is to preserve healthy ovarian tissue and reproductive function.
Surgery of the Vulva and Vagina
The surgical spectrum also includes procedures for benign and suspicious changes affecting the external and internal genital area, such as:
- removal of cysts or other benign lesions
- surgical treatment of abnormal skin or mucosal changes
- targeted biopsies and excisions
- treatment of precancerous lesions and selected malignant conditions
An Individualized Surgical Approach
Not every operation requires the same surgical approach. Depending on the condition, surgery may be performed vaginally, hysteroscopically, laparoscopically, with robot-assisted surgery, or through an open surgical approach.
The goal is not to favor one technique for every patient, but to select the approach that best combines medical safety, surgical precision, and the least possible physical impact.
With experience in conventional, vaginal, minimally invasive, robotic, and gynecological oncology surgery, Dr. Arsenakis can tailor the surgical approach to the individual condition and findings.
Modern gynecological surgery does not mean one technique for every patient – it means choosing the right operation and the right surgical approach for each individual case.
